British International Clay Target Shooting Federation
MINUTES OF THE INAUGURAL SUB COMMITTEE MEETING
Location: Southern Counties Shooting Ground on Friday 13th April 2007
Present:
Mr Hugh Smith - Chairman
Mr Nick Woodward - Vice Chairman
Mr Matt Hance
Mr Neville Jay
Mr Paul Storey
Mrs Elaine Draper - Secretary
Apologies: Mr Andy Shore
Hugh Smith opened the meeting explaining that Paul was on his way and would join us on arrival at the ground. Andy was unable to attend but expressed a wish to be on the Sub Committee.
Much work has been going on and Hugh asked that when entering into negotiations we must be careful to keep all committee members updated. We do not want to duplicate actions.
Can we all start any negotiations with "Without Prejudice or Commitment"
We have 2 grounds potentially interested in running an event to raise funds for FITASC.
1- Grimsthorpe
2- Hodnet. Put on by Promatic with profits donated.
With all negotiations we are acting on Hugh's behalf. Hugh is responsible to the BICTSF Board.
Hugh then went on to explain to Matt how the finances work within BICTSF.
Agenda items:
1- Promoting & Developing Our Sport
Individuals to make attempts where possible to get sponsorship either money or prizes but not to extreme lengths. (Do not pester?
Shooters should now realise, through the prize money given out at Hepworth Hall, how their money is being spent.
Full breakdown of costs and prize fund was put on notice board at the shoot.
Matt asked why we have to have Prize money. Birds only would reduce the cost of the shoots. It was explained that £ 10 per head would not make that much difference.
We had 130 entries at Hepworth. 140 entries at Southern Counties.
Matt is acting in a role similar to Team manager. Hugh emphasised that he should not compromise his own shooting performance worrying about the Team.
Hugh was concerned that Hepworth did not provide the admin support that should have been available. The targets however were good. Hugh hoped his shoot report reflected that.
Matt requested that the prize giving for the coming shoot was not delayed any longer than necessary. Southern Counties are geared up for these types of events and therefore should have it all sorted in a timely manner.
2- European Championship
We have no Team Manager. Hugh will be there shooting it and on the Technical committee, he will also endeavour to provide answers to any questions posed by Team GB members and any British competitors at the event.
Hugh would like a full Team briefing prior to the Opening Ceremony. Team Photo's should be taken. Hugh has the flags.
We aspire to having a Team Manager but it is a GB badged position and courses will need to be taken.
Matt and Hugh will ensure that all team members will have venue invitation letters for both the European and World Championships prior to departure for both of these events.
Bannerettes. It may be possible to obtain them 'Gratis' from BICTSF, as a fall back, but would like to have venue and date specific badges for the shoots. Paul has researched the price and it is calculated that we will need 61 for each event at a cost of £ 2.95 each. £ 188.80 per shoot. Neville felt confident that he could get the costs covered.
This year we have paid the entry fees. Hugh would like to give each shooter a contribution towards their costs. Hugh explained what full funding was and the history of BICTSF funding.
Hugh reminded all present that any additional funding was dependent on funds generated from the events and Sub Committees efforts, we should all remember that there is an agreed personal contribution of £250 for European and £500 for non European events for Team GB members. This is applicable to all teams under the BICTSF banner.
The decision for this year will not be made until after the final shoot at Brondai in September.
3 - Sponsorship
Hull have given 4,000 shells to Neville for resale with the money going to FITASC Cash equivalent of £ 624 (TBC).
Alan Rhone has paid £ 643 to pay for Team Registration fees.
Neville will find Sponsorship for the team shirts and investigate funding for 'be-spoke Bannerettes, check with John Bidwell first.
If Sponsors want to advertise or have their Logo on shirts or Skeet vests that should not be a problem.
It would be good to hold a Team building shoot to show the team off to sponsors. This could also be set up to help prepare the Team for a particular shoot.
AOB
NW Nick has Raffle prizes.
16 prizes have been donated. Nick to arrange for the sale of the tickets
MH Matt asked about Selection process.
Discussion was had about why top shots do not attend shoots. Also the number of shoots that should be attended in order to qualify.
Next meeting - Friday 18th May at Newnham Park
Actions
1. Neville to find funding for Bannerettes'.
2. Matt to ask Eley to respond to Nick's letter and Match Hull's offer.
3. Neville will check with JB about Team shirts.
Post Meeting Note
It has been agreed with Graham Lapthorn (Newnham Park) that one course (25 Targets) on each of the two days of the British GPX will be Blaze coloured targets, as a work out for the European team.
