The 2009 FITASC (Federation Internationale De Tir Aux Armes Sportives De Chasse) World Sporting Clay Shooting Championships are returning to Australia after 15 years, with Warrnambool winning the right to host the major international sporting carnival.

The seven-day clay shooting championship carnival will be held at the Laang Range in Warrnambool from November 16 to 22, 2009, with more than 600 competitors from 23 countries expected to participate. This will be the third time that the event has been held in Australia (Geelong in 1988 and. Mount Gambier in 1994).

The event will see a huge increase in international visitors to Warrnambool and Victoria with around 1000 delegates expected to descend on Australian soil - with a huge potential spin-off for tourism both regionally and throughout Australia.
